Plus the Final of the REDKEN NYC HAIR AWARDS 2011
Redken TRIBE was the party of 2011 as it took over the super cool Brixton Academy to host the hippest hairdressing event of the year. Infusing a mixture of dazzling hair shows, the latest in fashion, and the hottest up and coming music acts, TRIBE really did Rock the Runway.
As they entered the iconic Brixton Academy, the crowd was met with a massive stage and a shoulder-height runway. In the middle of the room, chefs from Jamie Oliver’s Fabulous Feasts cooked up the most delicious festival style food* yet to be tasted at a TRIBE event. A Pureology Chill Out area provided the perfect area to relax, catch up with friends and have a few drinks before the evening kicked off.
The show opened with the amazing R&B singer Terri Walker who hyped the crowd up, and linked into the night’s first show – a digitally inspired ‘Matrix’ runway show by Leo Bancroft. Next up, it was time to meet our host for the evening Redken Artist Toby Meyer, and the 21 finalists of the NYC Hair Awards and with the crowd really pumped after seeing their models on the massive runway, South London Rapper XOMAN hit the stage and fired out two pumping tracks.
The show ended with a spectacular finale, starting off with Andrew Barton’s fashion inspired show. Focusing on four trends from the A/W 2011 Runways - Androgynous, Dominatrix, Colour Blocking and Victoriana – each section had a distinct look and feel.
Energetic, young and happening artist Natalie May rounded off the evening before DJ Johnny Russell took over to spin the latest tracks until the small hours.
